I too read that the outside camera at the HI was broken.
When leaving C&C, one would have to turn right, drive along the main drag over the bridge to the cinemas then turn left to drive to the hotels and lighthouse.

Thanks for confirming what I posted/heard Whodeenie. I couldn’t find anything online.
Also Attorneys for the suspects are asking for release , say there is no reason to hold them. This will be nothing more than a missing persons case.
At this point, my instincts say this will all be “whitewashed” so that Aruba can keep it’s clean, crime free, tourist friendly reputation!

KerinTX, as long as they have five suspects in custody, and they have the FBI there, the real investigation is probably progressing extremely well.
Why else would they kill her unless they raped her? If she had willingly had sex with the 3 of them there was no rape and it would have taken longer than the 55 minutes the boys say was the timeframe between driving away with her after 1 AM and arriving at her hotel at 2AM.
I am on Joren’s brothers personal site. Some wierd comments. I think this is a case of teenage fun gone wrong. But you would think they would admit that.

How much influence in the investigation does the FBI actually have? From the way this is being run, I’d say not much.
Dallas, I may agree with that IF I knew what involevement the FBI has in this case. All I have read is that they are responsible for the blood analysis (which now may just be kool aid stains). I would like to think their top interrogators are there and questioning the suspects non-stop until they break.

Holloway’s mother and stepfather told The Birmingham News in Alabama that they discovered the Dutch boy’s connection to their daughter within 24 hours of her disappearance by talking to other students on the trip. They then found surveillance videotapes showing him playing poker with other Mountain Brook teens in their hotel casino two days before she vanished.
A lawyer for one of the Surinamese — Satish Kalpoe, 18, whose brother, Deepak, 21, also is in custody — said they told police they took Holloway to Arashi Beach, on the northern part of the island, in the early hours of May 30.
According to their police statement, they did not get out of the car, defense lawyer David Kock said. Instead, Holloway and the Dutch teen, an honors student at the Aruba International School whom she had met at the casino in her hotel, “were in the back seat kissing.”
They also told police that they dropped Holloway at her Holiday Inn at about 2 a.m. and last saw her being approached by a man in a security guard uniform before they drove off, Kock said.

To Scared Black Guy: Why is it that us dumb jerks on the blogging sites can ask such intelligent questions, and the reporters on the beat can’t? Kat, now that we have 19 or more FBI there (9 more arrived Saturday at 3), I think the FBI definitely does have influence on the direction of the case.
I believe it was posted that they brought along dogs too.
Since Aruba isn’t equipped for the investigation, I believe they will let the FBI get going on this. That’s probably why the mom begged for FBI involvement. Imagine not even having a DNA test lab. That puts them several years behind the state of criminal-investigation technology.

ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Authorities investigating the disappearance of Alabama honors student Natalee Holloway were seeking clues on the source of blood found in the car used to transport the missing teen to the beach nearly two weeks ago, Aruban Justice Minister Rudy Croes (search) said.

Missy…that site is scary and strikes close to home for me. In the US one of the big sites of that nature is myspace.com. Without going into too many details, right now in my area there is a 21 yr old man who raped at least 4 young girls and his “method” was to first meet them through his personal page. The police are going to finally be able to have a good case against him since he was stupid enough to post personal info in his page about his sexual activity and post pictures to back it up.
It was intersting to me that your prime minister practically guaranteed it would be solved in 24 hours on Geraldo last night..made me wonder if they’d found her and were moving here back onto the Island..thats why I have started thinkin this way recently

The authorities have said that the case is at a “crucial juncture”.
The key to solving it is to get the truth out of the three guys, and be able to act on it without Geraldo chasing the police down the street.
Arubagirl and Cathy, what would you say is the basic sentiment of Arubans now toward this whole case? I’ve been listening to your radio station and they seem to have alot of contempt for the American media (understandable).
The presence of so much of the Holloway and Twitty families may be making for more sensationalism. Her biological dad may be getting more information from the investigators than her mom and stepdad. Mrs. Twitty seems like she is on the verge of a breakdown. I don’t think staying in Aruba is going to help her or the investigation at this point.

The 2 black security guards are being held because the 3 young gentlemen who drove Natalee back to hotel said that a black man in a “hotel uniform carrying a radio” was with her at the door of the hotel.
That was after van der Sloot walked her to the door-some black guy appeared and then the Natalee and the black guy vanished according to the security cameras. Doesn’t make sense of course. Don’t believe a word of the stories from the 3 amigos.
Golden, right now everyone wants this to be solved, 1) to know what happened 2) the journalists go home. At least this is the feedback from the people in my fam. and friends.

Ultimately, Aruba won’t suffer as most American’s have extremely short memories and are addicted to white sandy beaches, clear water, and pina coladas - which all that Aruba has to offer the world.
1) Rohypnol may have been used on this girl (illegal in US, but easily attaninable and used in a bannana republic like Aruba).
2) One, if not all 3, raped the girl.
3) She was certainly, never dropped off at her hotel.
4) Where’s the NAACP and Jesse Jackson for the security gaurds? Talk about racism at its ugliest.
5) Aruba is a VERY small island, with most of it being arid and desert like. A body would have easily been found by now, unless:
a) It’s not on the island
b) It was tossed in the ocean
c) It is being held somewhere where it can’t be found (such as a place, house, etc. that is not subject to search - a place that is a safe haven of sorts for “influential parents” on the island)
6) Having 10 or so days for everyone to collude on their story makes it near impossible for any interrogation to work.
7) If any of the three ever step foot in the US, they’ll probably go missing too.
9) It underscores the biggest problem in the U.S. - the glamorization of alchohol and exploitation of women in the marketing of it. This encourges girls like Natalee to run off and get sloshed and act silly, and for sexual predators to take advantage of them. None of this would have happened if you remove alchohol from the equation. Not that you shouldn’t be able to drink, but drinking irresponsibly is far too encouraged and promoted.

When I was 18 my parents allowed me to go on a “booze cruise”. I sailed the western pacific and got drunker than drunk many times and I was a United States Sailor.
18 is old enough to fight and die, 18 is old enough to let off some steam. There is a BIG story here, folks. And it’s a story of a cover-up. And I know that the people of Aruba don’t want to hear that, but maybe it’ll all work out for their own good. Maybe it took a rich, white American girl to point up the corruption, racism, cronyism, favoritism and incompetence in the Aruba police force. But that’s what we have to work with. Sorry about that. And the fact that the only intelligent questions are those that have been raised at this blog site only underscore that fact. No doubt, the FBI will see to it that this case is cracked. But, without them, what would we have had. Two black security guards framed as scapegoats? 3 prime suspects turned footloose for 10 full days? Disinformation, misinformation, stonewalling, and foot-dragging? Yeah. That’s about it.
I hope this is not the case but the 3 boys may have been too drunk/ high/ wasted to truely remember what really happened.

3.) They were witnesses, came forward on their own.

5.) The guards have some relation, stolen items of the students on the trip with holloway.

Basically, the public has not been informed at all about crucial details. The local media has generated rumors guesses around it. Be advised to be swift about hearing and slow about speaking, there is very little fact and truth in teh news released by teh media.
I dont recall people being this interested to know all teh details when MJ was accused and when his trial began, things just sort of slowly began to seep out as witnesses were brought out and evidence material was laid bare.
Why should any case be different? Investgation is best kept on a low profile. here it’s up to each individual to use his/her common sense as to why they are doing this.

You may be entitled to your opinion but I would say it’s the way you going about expressing it. I have been reading your postings since yesterday and whereas I might agree with some of the (in my opinion) negligence of the chaperones, I don’t think that pointing that out in each and every one of your posts is helping. We really have NO idea what they signed-on or agreed to do for the teens on this trip. Again, maybe if you just post your feelings about “unsupervised” trips (which this kinda was) and then leave it at that, then fine. Pointing out what parents should or should not do in raising their kids or what rules they should be given is a matter of your opinion. Beating a dead horse is not helping.
So women who drink with their classmates and chaperones and wear clothes suitable for a tropical climate are whores. Does that entitle 3 young men to violate her, kill her, hide the body, lie to the parents, lie to the police, obstruct a police investigation, cause 2 innocent men to be detained and bring shame to their country?

Natalee was walking out with the rest of them. Cars were waiting for them. Some saw her walking ahead of them and just assumed she would move into one of the waiting cars.

Last night the Justice Minister (and I think the Prime Minister) as well confirmed on Fox interviews with Geraldo blood (that was the word used: BLOOD) was found in the car! Just a few minutes ago, I saw an interview live on Fox with *another* spokesman who said that only statements from the Justice or Prime Minister should be taken as official, yes *now* we’re hearing what the Justice Minister confirmed last night indeed isn’t fact. These weren’t reporters simply “reporting” what they heard, these were the people who are *supposed* to be in charge and making the *official statements.* It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to ask the next question: who the hell is in charge down there?
