Good Morning, my latest update, I rest assure that there seems to be more people involved. Only time will tell, so I will not be surprised if more people will be detained in connection to that night at the hotel. And recent polls indicate that around 60% of people still believe she’s still alive. It’s been more than 10 days, but I still have hope of finding her alive, just keep praying.

    3. Tom on June 10th, 2005 11:09 am

Thanks for update Jairo, it does sound like things are moving, just not as fast as most of us want it to. But that is always the case..

I heard something about a new subject being investigated too.

      The latest from Fox…
(Sorry, if it’s been posted already)

    6. MOMfromMO on June 10th, 2005 11:13 am

      Ben:
new SUBJECT? or did you mean suspect? Just curious.

    7. Ben on June 10th, 2005 11:20 am

      meant suspect…bad wording

    8. Jim Jimmerson on June 10th, 2005 11:35 am

How can we be sure that one or more of the suspects had sex with her? No reputable news source is reporting that. The truth is that we know very little, and I find that amazing because one would assume that, even if no “official” information were provided, SOMEONE with knowledge of the situation would make a midnight call to a newspaper or news service with an update on the investigation. Yet, there is nothing. Why?

    9. Jim Jimmerson on June 10th, 2005 11:36 am

This might be the only sensational case in memory that wasn;t rife with leaks. Where are the leaks? People MUST know more than we know.

    10. Ben on June 10th, 2005 11:37 am

The news sources are reporting an “intimate relationship”. Also the Attorney General,Trapenberg, last night on Hannity and Colmes claimed that one of the 3 suspects admitted to Joren and NH going behind the lighthouse and being intimate.

    11. Kris on June 10th, 2005 11:43 am

      Jairo,

Is there any thing else on the girl in the gas station?

    12. Rob on June 10th, 2005 11:52 am

hey just a thought, how extensively have the people working that night
@ the holiday inn been investagated? i havent heard a word about their backgrounds, after all that place is like a frat house…
      Rob

    13. Jim Jimmerson on June 10th, 2005 11:58 am

I find it hard to believe that a girl who, by all accounts, was a reserved, studious, responsible, and conservative young woman would sign on to go and have sex with some stranger that she meets on an island. That is a tough sell for me.

    14. Ben on June 10th, 2005 12:01 pm

Drugs and alcohol have an amazing effect on inhibitions…

    15. Rob on June 10th, 2005 12:01 pm

      jim, you from pittsburgh?

    16. Ben on June 10th, 2005 12:03 pm

are there in media people blogging from Aruba?

    17. JCarlo on June 10th, 2005 12:05 pm

      yes

    18. Jim Jimmerson on June 10th, 2005 12:06 pm

Drugs and alcohol don’t transform people. They certainly unmask non-obvious tendencies and characteristics that a person might have underneath her facade,, but they don’t create a new personality. They simply allow what is already there to come to the surface. If she truly was this goodie-two-shoes girl, I doubt those tendencies were even a part of her personality. I don’t know her, but people seem uniform in their feeling that she was not that type.

    19. Ben on June 10th, 2005 12:06 pm

However, anyone ever on ecstasy has said that you lose all inhibitions…were these guys not ecstasy dealers?

    20. donna on June 10th, 2005 12:07 pm

Hi all, still waiting to hear something myself. I still beilieve the sexual specualtions are just that, speculations. Until she is found, all we have to go on, as to if there was sex involved, is what the 3 creeps they arrested y’day are saying. For the friends and family of Natalee that are reading this, I am from Monroe County, In South Alabama, and you all have our support and prayers that she will be found alive! For the Aruban people that are reading, in NO way, do I fault your Island nor its people for this tragic happening. I will continue to read post, as long as I have power, being as how Tropical Storm Arlene seems to want to visit us.

    21. Jim Jimmerson on June 10th, 2005 12:07 pm

      No, I’m not from pittsburgh.

    22. Rob on June 10th, 2005 12:07 pm

this whole thing is very confusing…every aspect…im starting to think she alive…i was starting to lose hope i admit…

    23. donna on June 10th, 2005 12:11 pm

Yeah rob, same here, I was in hope thinking she was a runaway, now im beginning to lean more toward the possibility of her being kidnapped and even sold

    24. Mikey on June 10th, 2005 12:13 pm

I’d say those three boys went and had their way with Natalee, it’s sad to think what they probably done to her and made her do to them (oral sex).

      I hope she’s alive.

    25. Hamilton on June 10th, 2005 12:15 pm

You’re ignorant Mikey. Blowjobs should be the last thing we’re discussing here, wake up and get real.

      new update on cbs news.com

    27. Rob on June 10th, 2005 12:17 pm

they havent release any info on evidence. so i m starting to think they dont have any…
someone can be held in aruba just for suspision. that s kind a frightening. these guys just dont look like killer to me.. morons yes, killers no…but im probably wrong who know…..

    28. Kris on June 10th, 2005 12:18 pm

      Rob,

      Are you from pittsburgh?

And I agree with your statement on the hotel people. If the suspects say she fell drunk and was helped back into the hotel by a guy dressed in black with a walkie talkie–where is he? I don’t buy their story one bit. After all nothing showed up on the security tapes from the hotel

    29. Island Bunny on June 10th, 2005 12:18 pm

      Donna:

I agree with you. I my thoughts are also leaning towards her being kidnapped. From what I read incoming boats from other islands is not an unusual thing in Aruba. I don’t understand why they haven’t extended their search to Curacao, Venezuela, etc. Unless we just haven’t heard about it yet??

    30. Jim Jimmerson on June 10th, 2005 12:19 pm

I wanted to address something that was said earlier about whether blaming the classmates and chaperones is appropriate. OF COURSE it’s appropriate. Yes, the classmates and chaperones did not “physically” cause her disappearance, but their disregard for the her safety is a “but for” cause of this mess. I think everyone would agree that the LEGAL responsibility falls on the shoulders of the people who caused her disappearance, BUT that does nothing to obscure the fact that the chaperones and students have some MORAL responsibility.

It has long been said that “friends don’t let friends drink and drive.” Well, friends don’t let friends leave with 3 strangers at 1:30a.m.. And the chaperones? The CHAPERONES ought to be ashamed of themselves. Although I wasn’t there, what happened is fairly obvious. The chaperones went down there NOT to act as chaperones but rather to have a vacation FOR THEMSELVES. They didn’t do their job, and this is what happened.

    31. Larry From FLA on June 10th, 2005 12:22 pm

I have a question. The CBSNEWS.COM link stated this:

(CBS/AP) A missing Alabama honors student went to an Aruban beach with two Surinamese men and a Dutch teen who kissed her and fondled her intimately, a defense lawyer told The Associated Press on Friday.

Is this saying all the boys had an intimate time with her, or just the Dutch teen…

    32. MtnBrkGrad on June 10th, 2005 12:23 pm

From my earlier post on Natalee Holloway: Image of Computer’s Being Removed”

“First, the purpose of the chaparones is not to baby-sit, nor is it to monitor every movement the graduates make. This trip was organized the same way ours was…the chaparones’ essential purpose is to be there to help with any problem, no matter who big or small, but not to restrict us in an effort to prevent them. Our chaparones were visible, most often in the hotel lobby or on the beach. We ALWAYS knew were to find them if there was a problem. In fact, my year there was a problem and we knew where to go b/c we couldn’t handle it (fortunately there were not ill-fated consequences). So please, do not blame the chaparones…they were more-than-likely not at the bar as that was not their job, but rather milling around the lobby of the hotel just-in-case.”

    36. MtnBrkGrad on June 10th, 2005 12:25 pm

Just in case you don’t want to go and read my earlier post… I graduated from her high school a few years ago and went on the same senior trip, but ours was in Cancun.

    37. Kris on June 10th, 2005 12:26 pm

I read it as she had relations with the Dutch boy only. I am wondering something else, if they all left the club at 1:30 am and drove 15 min to the lighthouse and then dropped her back at the hotel, does this make sense to anyone? Wasn’t the bar by the hotel? 15min out and 15min back doesn’t leave much time for intimate relations.

    38. Rob on June 10th, 2005 12:27 pm

i have so many questions, i could ask the prime minister guy question for about three hours…

    39. Jim Jimmerson on June 10th, 2005 12:27 pm

The chaperones job IS to restrict kids. THAT is what chaperones do. If they’re not doing that, they’re not “chaperones.” A “chaperone” is someone who accompanies a young person to ensure appropriate behavior.

    40. Kris on June 10th, 2005 12:28 pm

      Rob,
Cool. I too am from Pittsburgh. Be safe on your upcoming trip. Perhaps since you now the area you can address my last post re the timing of them leaving and “dropping” her off.
I believe in my heart that she is still alive and my family will continue to pray for her and her family

      MtnBrkGrad

      chap ·er ·on or chap ·er ·one ( P ) Pronunciation Key (shp-rn)
      n.
A person, especially an older or married woman, who accompanies a young unmarried woman in public.
An older person who attends and supervises a social gathering for young people.
A guide or companion whose purpose is to ensure propriety or restrict activity: “to see and feel the rough edges of the society… without the filter of official chaperones” (Philip Taubman).

See #3…the chaperones failed to be chaperones…it a shame the adults let the kids rule.

    42. Rob on June 10th, 2005 12:29 pm

the bars not that far from the beach (arashi).. but the whole time line is really screwed up.. here’s a question.. in this day in age.. why does’nt c&c have video camera in that crime joint.. maybe they dont want to be put in the postion to have to idenify anyone.

    43. Kris on June 10th, 2005 12:30 pm

      Jim,
I agree with you, however speaking from my own senior trip, many years ago. It wasn’t that difficult to “ditch” our chaperones.

I believe that it will be a long time in coming before another trip like this is planned

    44. phil on June 10th, 2005 12:30 pm

Sorry Jim we posted at the same time

    45. Jim Jimmerson on June 10th, 2005 12:32 pm

The chaperones didn’t do their job. That’s the bottom line.

    46. Rob on June 10th, 2005 12:33 pm

the light house is near the tierra del sol golf course.. i undertsand the majority of americans living in aruba live on that side of the island… but not exactly next to the lighthouse.. thats a desert there

    47. Kris on June 10th, 2005 12:33 pm

      Rob,
Another good point. I also find it interesting that one of Natalee’s classmates in speaking with CNN stated that they went to Carlos N Charlies web site and saw a picture of the dutch boy. I attempted to go to that site and am given the “Page cannot be displayed” line.

Having been there, is the area where C&C is more “touristy” or is it in an area not so nice, (for lack of better words)

    48. Ben on June 10th, 2005 12:33 pm

You can’t blame the chaperones. I went on a senior trip when I was 17, just graduated from high school, went to myrtle beach, no parents, no chaperones, just us. The kids will be in college in 2 months and faced with the same responsibilities. I live in NYC, am 24. It’s extremely common to see girls from NYU, Columbia Univ, or wherever out, way drunk, and willing to go home w/ random people. It’s the people who take advantage of that situation who are sick.

    49. phil on June 10th, 2005 12:34 pm

If Aruba has anything to worry about it would be the reduction of senior trip throughout the Carribean…all the parents who were on the fence will be off it now…

The fake chaperone routine will not work anymore and the parent will gain leverage against the “drunken, gambling, sex” trips.

    50. Ben on June 10th, 2005 12:35 pm

On the website note…C&C took down the shout out and a lot of the pics from there website. It might have crashed w/ all the hits to it.

    51. Jim Jimmerson on June 10th, 2005 12:35 pm

If I were one of those chaperones, I’d be praying for Natalee and praying that I don’t get sued. They assumed a duty to that girl and were obviously negeligent in discharging that duty.

    52. Mikey on June 10th, 2005 12:48 pm

      Kris,

I wandered the same thing about the timeframe….15 minutes for intimacy, probably means a hummer…

    53. Kris on June 10th, 2005 12:49 pm

      Ben,
      Thanks for the insight.

      Jim,
As this trip was not a school sanctioned trip, I am sure that there were numerous forms completed, including one that releases the chaparones from accident or injury liability.
I still agree with you that they failed, but as I said and Ben, with or without chaperones, kids that age are vulnerable and naive.

    54. Kris on June 10th, 2005 12:52 pm

      Mikey,
With all due respect that is not what I was referring to. Let me spell it out more clearly for you. Leave Point A (bar) at 1:30 drive 15min to lightouse, leave lighthouse to drive to point B (hotel) 15min? (not sure of location of each) that puts the time at 2am, the time they say the dropped her off. Therefore leaving NO time for intiamate relations.
That is what I was questioning.
On a side note, you must be quick if 15 min. is all you need

    55. Jim Jimmerson on June 10th, 2005 12:53 pm

If some seedy sex details come out, America’s interest in this case will dissipate. Let’s face it: the only reason that this is a story in the first place is that it involves a (1) pretty (2) young (3) white (4) girl. Take away one or more of those things, and this is something that you’d never hear about. The girl is a southern, blonde-haired, blue-eyed “good girl” from an upper middle class suburb. The puritanical backbone of this country loves this sort of girl, but, if we start hearing about a consensual sex romp, the public interest will wane, and that will make finding her that much harder.

    56. Jim Jimmerson on June 10th, 2005 12:56 pm

I did not write that. Someone stole my handle.

    57. Mikey on June 10th, 2005 12:56 pm

    68. gaijin on June 10th, 2005 1:01 pm

I agree with all of you that the “adults” were remiss in their responsibilities to these 18 year old children – potential college students or no – but, though I cannot substantiate it or get the website for you, I am certain I saw a story a few days ago on CNN or MSN website where some school official (principle?) in response to these allegations stated that the accompanying adults were not “chaperones” but “facilitators” of the “event”. This probably in an attempt to deflect responsibility back towards the school as you suggest. It’s not right – but Im certain I saw somewhere that that is the schools “position”.

    69. MOMfromMO on June 10th, 2005 1:03 pm

First…it was not a school sponsored event. Two…students and parents chose chaparones; they were not school appointed. Third, the parents knew the role of the chaparones. That is a label … the truly were not their to perform duties to the letter of the definition of the word. Regardless of what you guys think…you were not involved in the formation of the trip and you don’t know their role. They won’t be sued. The family has already made a statement at a press conference that the blame is not on them. I am telling you, with first hand knowledge, their role is not that of a babysitter!! They do not escort the students out at night.

    79. Kris on June 10th, 2005 1:14 pm

      MtnBrkGrad,
Have you gone on one of these trips? Gathering from your “name” I assume that you are in or near her home town. If so, know that you are in our thoughts and prayers for the safe return of your friend.

    80. langosta on June 10th, 2005 1:15 pm

i can understand why her friends had no problem with her leaving with that boy. son of a judge, good student, i’m sure VERY charming, AND they had contact with him earlier in the week…seems safe enough. no excuses for the chaperones…they dropped the ball big time and they know it which i’m SURE is why you’ve heard NOTHING from them nor will anyone answer questions about them. my 2 cents…she leaves with these guys…they take a drive and she starts fooling around with the Dutch kid (she’s under the influence of SOMETHING, be it drugs or alcohol)…they get to the beach for a “private party” that she’s not aware she’s going to have…perhaps in restraining her or covering her mouth she suffocates or her neck breaks (if god forbid she was face down in the sand, there’s no air), they panic and dump the body and blame the 2 security guards (who they know because perhaps they’ve purchased drugs from in the past). i think if she had gone swimming and accidentally drowned, these kids would have notified the authorities. i think those 3 are absolutely responsible for her disappearance. in my opinion, they aren’t searching for her in South America because the authorities KNOW she’s not there. god please let me wrong…i pray that she’s alive and well somewhere, but too much time has elapsed. hopefully i’m wrong. my thoughts and prayers go to you and your family Natalee.

    81. MtnBrkGrad on June 10th, 2005 1:21 pm

Just to clarify your questions I have copied my earlier post in its entirety to this page. But briefly to answer: yes I grew up in Mtn Brk and graduated from school there. My family is still there, and in a town that small and that close knit you know virtually everyone, or atleast know of them. As I graduated 7 yrs ago I did not go on this trip… ours was to Cancun before they changed it to Aruba as a safer venue.

      As posted earlier:
WOIMB, I am a Mtn Brk Grad as well and I appreciate your efforts to rectify the misconceptions posters have re MB, Natalee’s family, the chaparones, etc. For everyone I would just like to expand on WOIMB’s posts. I graduated from MB about 7 years ago, and was allowed to go on a senior trip. The Aruba trip was organized because it was a much safer place than previous locations; for instance, our trip was to Cancun. I would like to clarify a few misconceptions, although knowing it may not change opinions.

First, the purpose of the chaparones is not to baby-sit, nor is it to monitor every movement the graduates make. So please, do not blame the chaparones…they were more-than-likely not at the bar as that was not their job, but rather milling around the lobby of the hotel just-in-case.

Secondly, everyone wants to place the blame on the parents for letting there her go. This community is tight-knit and as WOIMB said: “very safe … the Tiny Kingdom”. There is something to be said for realizing that your 18 yr. old is about to be on their own. For those of you who call them naive for thinking it was a “more controlled situation … to blow off steam”, you are mistaken. If you have children you would be naive to think that for them, and the majority of teens today, drinking and the presence of drugs is a not a norm, because it is. I am NOT saying they all do routinely, but at the very least they have been in situations were it is present. Those who have not are a rarity. Personally, I embrace the parenting tactics of many of these parents. You educate your children re the consequences of their actions, you enforce the consequences, yet at some point parents must rely on what they have done as a parent. Most of these parents feel that slowly loosening the reigns and exposing their children to a menagerie of situations makes them more-rounded adults, able to adapt to and better handle themselves in various situations. I feel that the parents that continue to “ride” their children who have proven to be responsible have doubts as to how effective a parent they have been. This trip has been going on for 15+ years, maybe longer, in this format; only the venue has changed. It is considered a “Rite of Passage” … have you guys heard of that??
Third, Natalee may have left willingly and may have made some questionable choices, but that does not make her a “slut”. WE DON’T KNOW WHAT SEE DID … PLEASE, STOP POSING ASSUMPTIONS AS ASCERTIONS OF FACT!! An instance does not define a person. Need I remind many of you that this young lady had high aspirations, and not only that she was well on her way towards achieving them. She does not have an illegitimate child nor does she have a rap sheet, or even a record of misconduct at school, quite the contrary in fact. Also, having been in Cancun on a senior trip, it is possible not to drink and have fun with your friends even if they are drinking. I had fun and yet never had more than one daquari while in Cancun. I am not trying to say wasn’t drinking, jsut making the point that we don’t know what she was doing.

Please just pray for her. Don’t judge her, her family/friends, or where she came from. It is a wonderful place, and though the perception of it from the outside may be oneway, it is a stereotype (not applicable to every person living there) and nothing more.

      ATTENTION PARENTS:

SOME SCHOOL TRIPS ARE UN-CHAPERONED…PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME YOUR CHILDS SAFETY BECAUSE SOME ADULT MAYBE ON THE TRIP TO FACILITATE.

      O”Reilly will love this…

My ascertion has been from the beginning that these guys took advantage of her. Their intentions were obvious, we’ve all seen the websites, the guys were bad news.

    84. Rob on June 10th, 2005 1:27 pm

langosta… that still doesnt explain where her body is… second they are looking in SA…

    85. langosta on June 10th, 2005 1:33 pm

…hmmm, well, i can’t see her being in the water, unless someone had a boat, but hey, this is all speculation so who knows, maybe they paid the guards to help hide her. i recall reading somewhere that Aruba has a lot of caves and it would be difficult to explore them all…having never been there, i don’t know if that’s true or not. you are right Rob, i’m sure they ARE looking in S.A., it just doesn’t seem to me like that is something they are heavily pursuing and there has to be a REASON for that…does that make sense? i don’t know, i hope she pulled a Runaway Bride thing and she’s just hanging somewhere, but i just don’t know. what do YOU think happened?

    86. donna on June 10th, 2005 1:34 pm

Im back, and not even going to scroll and read past my last post, as the first few i saw were uncalled for. There are no FACTS on her being sexually assaulted, there are not FACTS period, other than the 3 guys were “the last to see her” and as it appears, that is not a concrete FACT

    87. NativeLingo on June 10th, 2005 1:35 pm

      As Posted on another board:

For all those out there (including the Mass Media) questioning the investigation prodedures and the term “tactical” (as mentioned during the presscon.) the following:

They let the 3 guys “go” after questioning
just to give them a false “off the hook” feeling.. (at least for a while)….

My guess is that it was during this period that the SUBSTANTIAL evidence was gathered.

Kinda like: “pretend to be dead, and watch who comes to your funeral”

      Plain ‘ol STRATEGY!!!!!

If I recall correctly, this is the same STRATEGY that was used during the SCOTT PETERSON investigation……which by the way was a case with ALOT of circumstantial evidence SINCE DAY ONE!!!!!!

He too was questioned and “let Go”…and it was weeks before they finally brought him in and impounded his car for evidence.

Let me not even get into the O.J case….

SO PLEEEEAASE quit questioning the local police, authorities, and government and especially coming up with absurd theories of wild conspiracies and cover-ups.

Alow me to remind all that the FBI is ACTIVELY involved!!!!!!!!!

DELETE “Selective Memory” and INSTALL/OPEN the “Let’s look at the big picture with an open mind” file…

As for the Mass Medis, especially O’Reilly, Nancy Grace, Greta, etc…

Get your facts STRAIGHT, remain OBJECTIVE, and quit being SENSATIONALISTIC.

I don’t see a Pulitzer in your future anytime soon……………

The Joran Kid ( YES HE IS A KID) was an honors student as well, i have read his school’s newsletter, This kid was no dummy. He was accepted into St. Leo’s University in Florida, He has no prior record, so how can we sit there and assume he is a criminal without any concrete evidence? I saw his website. He looks and acts like any good looking teenage Young man. Is it possible that NA will never be found?
There is only so many places N.A could of gone on that island or off the island

do you still live in mtnbrk? what is everyone saying there?

    101. donna on June 10th, 2005 1:55 pm

I am in Monroe County Alabama, about 75 miles from Mobile. I am, we all are, praying you her safe return. I have many thoughts, first was that she was a runaway teen (was hoping), now, I am leaning more so to thought that the 3 guys were not the last to see her, and that perhaps someone else got her, possible for sale. As that may sound so horrible, it gives me a great deal of hope that she is still alive and with our law enforcement, I have to feel sure she will be found. I have not seen the gas station posts, but we were just told, as I guessed, it was not her. We’ll find her, I trust that, it is just a different process in law over there…….

    102. langosta on June 10th, 2005 1:56 pm

      Nick,
You’re totally right! he looks like a fun great kid. so did Scott Peterson. looks mean NOTHING…hell, the way some people ACT means nothing. i think whatever happened to her was an accident, i don’t think they intentionally meant to harm her, but they ARE kids, and they panicked. hopefully we’re all wrong and she’s okay.

    103. Ben on June 10th, 2005 1:58 pm

the photos are on section V of the site…
it doesn’t really look like her to me

    104. Nick on June 10th, 2005 1:59 pm

      Langosta,
i agree with you on the looks part.
You also have a point about the kids making a mistake, but only time will tell.
There is not much information on this case which makes it difficult for us.

    105. Jane Doe on June 10th, 2005 2:00 pm

As far as “chaperones” go, I’ll just say this. If I were a parent, planning a trip for my 18 year old daughter and I was told there would be “chaperones” there, I would BELIEVE that they would make sure my daughter did NOT get in trouble.

It doesn’t matter what the definition of chaperone is, or what the chaperones “thought” they were there to do, what matters is what the parents thought , who let their children go on the trip, knowing there were chaperones. Saying there will be “chaperones” gives the parents a sense of security, that someone is watching out for their child, just like they would IF they were there.

So, I too.. believe that the chaperones did NOT do their job. They did not “chaperone”.

So in the future, if the chaperones are not going to chaperone, don’t tell parents you have “chaperones’ going!

My thoughts and prayers are with Natalee and her family!

    106. Nick on June 10th, 2005 2:00 pm

I am unable to go on Joran’s website, did they shut it down?

    108. phil on June 10th, 2005 2:02 pm

Great kid…according to his story he threw a drunk girl out on the street at 2am in the morning without wiating and get her to a “safe place”.

This after he pick her up and took advantage of her…

If my daughter met a kid like that he’d be a dead great kid..

    109. Jairo on June 10th, 2005 2:05 pm

I recommend everyone to watch MSNBC because the reporters of ATV Aruba are very good in investigations of this sort, and they will bring their reports to MSNBC because ATV is a partner of NBC.

langosta..sorry i was away…i dont know what happen to her.. i should have been able to figure it all out by now.. but i have no idea…the three chucklehead just dont strike me as murderers..the look very horny though.. and there is some legal prostitution in aruba.. if your horny you dont have to kill someone. i still keep going back to the frat house (holiday inn) . id give everyone there an anal… after all, theoritically, they could have possibly erased any video….the three moron say they dropped her off at 2 am… that doesnt look like a lotta time to hide a body this well..then again maybe they didnt drop her off… i just dont know….

    113. phil on June 10th, 2005 2:11 pm

      From an early post

      1) The news sources are reporting an “intimate relationship”. Also the Attorney General,Trapenberg, last night on Hannity and Colmes claimed that one of the 3 suspects admitted to Joren and NH going behind the lighthouse and being intimate

      2) If she was drinking/drink as he claims…he took advantage…at least that would qualify as such in my book of gentlemenly behavior.

    114. Ashley on June 10th, 2005 2:11 pm

      donna

I think the same thing about her being sold, i know that makes them sound bad but everyone here in alabama seems to think that might be a possible and it if its not thats great im just praying that shes not dead and that she will return home alive with her parents. i can not even imagine the pain her parents are going through being over there and not knowing where she is and if shes alive that would just tear me to peices and i would want to hurt the person that did that to her. did you know her? I feel like really bad that it happened to her and i feel like it could have happened to me on my senior trip that we went on last year in cancun.

In connection with the alleged sighting at the gas station:

Brother is saying it is not her, but Father (David Holloway) is not convinced it isn’t. According to Mr. Holloway, the girl in the images bares a lot of resemblance to his daughter, as far as physical aspects go.
As for the gas station employees: One swears it’s her. Apparently she lloks “disoriented” and has some bruises…….

She purchased cigarettes and phonecards, and left in a rented car……

    152. MB2 on June 10th, 2005 2:37 pm

      Ashley,
No, I didn’t go to school with Natalee as I graduated 30+ years ago. I went to Europe a couple of times then and even back in those dinosaurs days, we drank like fools in Europe in front of the chaperones as there was no legal drinking age then. Our parents were well aware of it and were warned ahead of time. The only difference with my trip (besides many, many moons ago) is that I was on “an official, school sponsored trip abroad” whereas Natalee’s trip was not sponsored by the school. Our chaperones were not with us 24/7 either – most nights we were on our own but we fortunately stayed with our buddies in at least a group of 3 or 4.
Are you from Aruba? If so, thank you for all your island is doing for Natalee’s family. I would go to Aruba in a heartbeat if given the opportunity.

    153. Nick on June 10th, 2005 2:38 pm

The lighthouse has been closed for many years and there’s no way of physically getting inside the lighthouse because of the heavy locks on the place. That’s another thing, press in the states have been talking about 2 different places, the beach behind the lighthouse and the Arashi beach, I don’t know which one the 3 guys stated that they took Natalee, Defense Attorney said that one of the 3 said they went to the lighthouse.

Natalee is dead! Whose fault is it? Does it matter? Will the truely guilty suffer? Probably not.

This should serve a lesson. Sounds like everyone was fully aware what this trip was about. It takes about 5 minutes to figure out that a place like CnC’s doesn’t provide the safest environment for any woman, let alone, an naive, or dumb, 18 year old. A lot of people dropped the common sense ball, here. Look where it got Natalee. Either the parents are naive, dumb or out of control themselves. How could you allow your just-graduated child, no matter how mature you think they are, into an environment like that where they are forced to deal with situations and freedoms that they may have never encountered before without proper supervision. Predators are everywhere. Even in so-called “Paradise”.

I’m guessing that Natalee wanted to party like a big girl, but she soon found herself in over her head.

    161. Rob on June 10th, 2005 2:45 pm

that girl in the video sound dutch to me… here’s why, alotta of em smoke, especially marlboros and drink beer, also the calls from aruba to holland are very expensive…thus the cards…just thinking..

    162. Nick on June 10th, 2005 2:46 pm

We don’t know if she is dead, but each day , the odds of her being alive is slim to none.

Ashley, Where in AL do you live?

    168. Ashley on June 10th, 2005 2:53 pm

does anyone know where that store was where they think she was spotted? do any of you think its her?

    169. Nick on June 10th, 2005 2:55 pm

      Ashley,
      i am in Jville, Florida
My fear is that she has passed away, Very rarely Young women are found alive. History has shown that very few are found alive.
We all want to believe that she is alive or running away.
I thought the run away bride was dead, but weird things can happen.
I hope that she is not in some South America Brothel getting abused sexually and mentally. No kid should have to go through that

    170. Jairo on June 10th, 2005 2:55 pm

Yes, it’s a Valero gasoline station right at the end of the mainstreet of Aruba in the middle of Oranjestad.

    171. Nick on June 10th, 2005 2:57 pm

      Jairo,
I am glad that you have news on certain parts.
Is it information that we already heard?
I hope you inform us :)
      Thanks

      Nick

    172. Ashley on June 10th, 2005 2:57 pm

i know that si true nick but do you not think that pic from the gas station is not her?i think it looks like her from the way she stands in both pic and even her dad thinks its her and the women that worked there does also. who knows but if it was why would the people that have her send her in someplace like that knowing people are looking for her?

    173. langosta on June 10th, 2005 2:58 pm

Rob’s got a GREAT point! considering the WORLDWIDE media attention this is getting, if anyone got a call from her, i think they’d tell SOMEBODY. hate to say it, but i don’t think that was her. i’m sure 1/2 the girls down there look like that (tourists), hell, on a grainy black and white video, I’D pass as her!

    174. Jairo on June 10th, 2005 2:58 pm

It’s all new info, today there’s not going to be any press conference by police and it seems becuase of a lot of investigation going on.

    175. Ashley on June 10th, 2005 2:59 pm

well we are just hoping that was her and thats shes still alive and ready to be found but in a way if it was her i think i would be finding some way to tell thwe peolpe that worked there that i needed help and soon dont you

    176. Nick on June 10th, 2005 3:00 pm

so is this breaking news? I hope its good news and a good outcome

That gas station is close to my house in Aruba and in the middle of town. If she wanted to get sigarettes this would not be the most obvious place. I go with the suggestion that is was a dutch girl buying sigarettes.

    183. Jairo on June 10th, 2005 3:05 pm

    207. Texan trued and true on June 10th, 2005 3:19 pm

My personal opinion is that she is alive and is no longer on the island. She has been taken somewhere by boat and is being held against her will. I think the prostitution and slave trade theory may unfortunately be what happened. If she was dead there would be some kind of physical evidence by now. And bodies float to the surface after this long. Authorities need to start investigating and checking Venezuela and islands of close proximity to Aruba if they have any hopes of finding any trace of Natalee. I also believe that in a situation like this, there are many more people involved. The three boys are probably involved, but I am almost sure that if she is alive, they had accomplises to help transport the girl to another location. The fact that Natalee’s friends have reported seeing the Dutch boy on several occasions indicates that he strategically planned whatever happened and wa scoping out his target. He may be involved in something more illegal like trafficking and its possible that Natalee fit the description of someone that they could get a lot of money for in the prostitution industry. Also, I recently came across an article about a young woman named Amy Bradley that disappeared from a cruise ship somewhere in the Caribbean around the island of Aruba in 1998. Authorities investigated and found no clues as to her whereabouts. A year or so later, a US military officer reported seeing her in a brothel somewhere in the Caribbean- I think in Venezuela but am not positive, and she said she needed help, but at the time he thought nothing of it. He reported the sighting, but unfortunately when authorities arrived, the brothel had burnt down, and she hasn’t been seen since. I think its a big mistake for the authorities investigating Natalee’s disappearance to ignore this previous case because there are some striking similarities that can’t be overlooked. First, Amy’s mother reported that a man approached her daughter on the ship and asked her to go get some drinks from a new bar, Carlos n Charlies- the same bar Natalee was seen in. Also, that bar opened in 1998-the same year Amy disappeared. I’m not saying the bar is involved but the cases are similar. I believe there is a illegal prostitution or slave trade ring in the Caribbean and that Natalee may have fallen victim to these sick people. Another scenario is that she witnessed something illegal that someone didn’t want her to see, and consequently she was taken to avoid her exposing them. My prayers go out for Natalee and her family and friends as well as the island of Aruba. I pray that this mystery is solved and that the island can return to normal.

    208. Ashley on June 10th, 2005 3:20 pm

      to the truth

why in the world would you say something like that, just b/c she left with them does not mean shes a slut and for one she might have not gone with them they may have made her and you need to learn respect for women, that was uncalled for and that probably makes alot of people mad. where are you from anyways?

    209. Kris on June 10th, 2005 3:20 pm

    223. Jairo on June 10th, 2005 3:26 pm

The truth is that FBI Divers have been diving, this was wrongly reported by Karl Penhaul of CNN and just recently search dogs from the FBI have arrived on the island.

    235. Mark 2 on June 10th, 2005 3:36 pm

We now have another mark in here so thought I would differentiate myself by putting a 2 after my name.

Anyway, Nick, you mentioned that Jaron isn’t a killer because he is smart. Well, remember the couple going to West Point who killed the guys lover because his wife was jealous of her? The fact is that you can be as smart as hell and still have a screw loose. In fact, as a rule criminals are very intelligent people. So don’t assume that because you come from a good family and/or make good grades that you aren’t capable of something like this. Based on reports, we know that he is guilty of at least taking advantage of and/or drugging a nice girl to have sex with her. That is not a nice guy. If he will rape, he will also kill if the situation dictates it.

If criminals were dumb, my job in Chicago would have been easy. Unfortunately the culprits were pretty clever so we worked our butt off to solve cases.

Concerning the confusion as to whether she had sex with one or three of them, not that it really matters, but when the boys were interrogated the first time it was reported that all of them stated that Natalee voluntarily went with them to have a “foursome”. Assuming that report is correct, then those guys are full of it and it should have been obvious from the beginning.

ah i see. i never get so interested in things like this. my heart really goes out to the family. i have to have at least a hourly update on what is happeneing. i guess its because i can relate so much to her…

    246. Ben on June 10th, 2005 5:00 pm

Yeah, that and the fact that this case is increasingly stranger and stranger by the hour it seems. We have no news from mainstream media so we have to rely on locals who are taking the time to blog.

    247. MOMfromMO on June 10th, 2005 5:12 pm

Reason this hits home for me:

Don’t know if any of you ever heard this story, but I think it was on America’s Most Wanted some time back….

In Springfield, MO (my location)..on June 7 1992, 3 women were abducted. Sherrill Levitt, the mother; Suzie Streeter, her daughter, and Stacy McCall, Streeter’s best friend. Suzie and Stacy had graduated high school that very day, then later went to a party. Stacy was supposed to stay @ the party (thrown by another friend, and supervised by parents, but they ran out of room for her to stay)…Suzie & Stacy made it to Suzie’s house…the car was in the driveway. The next day, another HS friend went to their house, as they had plans to go to White Water the next day. The noticed the light bulb on the front porch was broken, but no answer at the door. The only witness? A yorkshire terrier. Spooky.

The investigation was ongoing, leads pursued…and on and on
      They are STILL missing.

I hope this sight is helpful to Natalee’s family:

      http://www.onemissinglink.org/background.html

Praying for Natalee, Sherrill, Suzie and Stacy.

    248. MOMfromMO on June 10th, 2005 5:15 pm

Have to get going. Keep up the prayers for Natalee. Have a good weekend!

    249. Sentient_Hotdog on June 10th, 2005 5:20 pm

I realize that this comment might mark me as a conspiricy nut, but I feel like I may as well throw it out there, just so that if it turns out true, I can claim devine future-telling powers.

I seem to recall that we started hearing about human slave traffic (from C. Rice) roughly the same time as this case started to really break. Several south american countries are known to have solid supplies of oil. If this girl ends up in one of these countries, and we start an sudden “war on slavery”….I’m going to be worried.

Is this what happened…nah, I doubt it. But if I t does, I expect some sort of candy from at least some of you.

i just thought of something… do you know the area where the abandoned town is… there are a few ppl still living there but the majority of buildings and houses are empty. i kinda stumbles on to this area by accident when i was down by KIA. has this area beeen throughly search?, there are a lot of places to hide a live or dead person. this little town looks like the ideal place to commit a crime…
      just wondering

      Rob,

That was exactly the area that was searched (massively) a couple of days ago…

Yes, any Arubian would tell you that this area behind KIA and around the northern coast of Aruba would be a first place were crime could be commited, that’s one of the reasons I think they searched this place first. And dutch military has been doing their searches around their every day. They know the area very well because they use it for training.
