Starvation = Justice?

Early Tuesday morning Federal judge, James D. Whittemore, in the Terri Schiavo case ordered that Terri Schiavo be starved to death. He refused to order the reinsertion of Terri Schiavo’s feeding tube, thus know leaving Terri’s parents the right to appeal to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta.

U.S. District Judge James Whittemore said Bob and Mary Schindler had not established a “substantial likelihood of success” at trial on the merits of their arguments. Schiavo’s tube was removed Friday after the appeals of her parents to keep the tube in failed in state court. Tuesday marked the fourth day without her feeding tube.

Terri schiavo How could a Judge’s decision actually be that starving to death is better than life? This is what Judge Whittemore basically said during his decisions today. What is most troubling in this entire matter is the premise that because Michael Schiavo claims that his wife told him she never wanted to live this way and the fact that Terri supposedly has no quality of live that it is OK to starve an innocent citizen of the United States to death. This is appalling. She is living and breathing on her own, yet we have a Court system in the United States that is putting a women to death.

What is even more disgustingly appalling comparison we are presented with. The Terri Schiavo situation is taking place at the same time as this pathetic excuse of a human being, John Evander Couey, will be provided not one but two attorneys at tax payers expense to defend him in his kidnapping, sexually assaulting and killing 9-year-old Jessica Marie Lunsford and separate violation of parole case of not abiding by the sex offender laws. I have read those who want Terri dead question why the tax payers have to foot the bill for care that will never amount to anything. Do these same people feel the same about a reprobate that we have to pay for his defense even though there is a full confession and he’s 100% guilty? Do they feel the same with the too numerous to count appeals that this dirt bag will file. I’m sorry, alleged dirt bag.

It has been claimed that Terri Schiavo has no quality of life and is in a persisitant vegetative state and will never cover. Dirt bagThat is why it is justified to kill her, to starve her and dehydrate her to death. So because she has no chance of recovery, so THEY say, this means end her life. My question is then why do the Courts & Liberals look at it differently when it is a convicted rapist, killer who has been sentenced to death? Maybe some one would like to explain to me how DEATH ROW INMATES get better care than Terri Schiavo? Death row inmates are provided all types of health care, Why? Especially when their final appeals are over. What is the point? If the Courts and Liberals are going to claim that there is no hope for Terri ever recovering, exactly what hope is there for convicted death row inmates but death?

Even when inmates are not sentenced to death but only life in prison they are provided with better care. John Gotti, NYC mob boss was treated on several occasions for healthcare issues. Gotti was also provided medical treatment for his throat cancer. The idea that someone is sentenced to “life in prison” yet we are extending their life through medical technology seems rather hypocritical as compared to the Schiavo case.

Can everyone see the double standard and ludicrous position that the Courts are taking? Its OK to save and extend the life of a convicted felon who has either been sentenced to death or life without parole; however, it is not OK to save the life and extend that of Terri Schiavo’s. This really is insanity. A future convict like John Evander Couey, pictured above, will have a better and more sustained quality of care than Terri. They will keep him alive to kill him or have him serve out his sentence and they will starve Terri Schiavo. Who’s life is more worth saving? Who has a greater quality of life and provides joy to others? Which one should be starved to death?

DJ at PoliPundit has another interesting view of the moral dilemma comparison that has been created. What’s another double standard to add to the list?
